| Shock. That's how writers in my classes and workshops react when I invite them to call me with any future questions. But I remember when I was a beginning writer, alone in my office. Sometimes I was stumped by how to proceed. Sometimes I suffered a crisis of confidence. Sometimes I was lost in pages of writing, wondering where to begin, where to end and where to put the commas in between. Sometimes I needed just one simple question answered. I needed someone to talk to, to seek advice from, someone with my best interest at heart. Someone who would see me and my work as unique and not give me the standard stock suggestions. I had to learn to do that for myself; and, as an educator and a writer, I learned to do it for others, too. We can meet in person or by telephone. |
